1. Access Control

Physical access control is a matter of Who, Where, and When. An access control system determines Who is allowed to enter or exit, Where they are allowed to exit or enter, and When they are allowed to enter or exit. Traditionally, this is often accomplished by distributing metal keys or access cards to authorized personnel. When a door is locked, only authorized personnel with a valid key or access card can enter through the door.
Model ZK US700

Sadly however, many victimized businesses have discovered that metal keys and access cards can easily be lost, stolen or forgotten. Any unauthorized personnel who fraudulently posses a valid key or card can easily gain door access.

Another inherent disadvantage of using mechanical locks and metal keys is they provide no door access audit trail. This makes conducting necessary criminal investigations near impossible when a security breach is discovered.

Bio Touch Solutions prevents the fraudulent use of keys/cards and provides door access audit trails by utilizing, instead, the latest advancements in biometric access control technology: Model ZK US700 fingerprint access control reader

2. Time & Attendance

Organizations of all sizes use time and attendance systems to record when employees start and stop work, and the department where the work is performed. However, it’s also common to track meals and breaks, the type of work performed, and the number of items produced. In addition to tracking when employees work, organizations also need to keep tabs on when employees are not working. Vacation time, compensation time, FMLA time, and jury duty must be recorded. Some organizations also keep detailed records of attendance issues such as who calls in sick and who comes in late.

A time and attendance system provides many benefits to organizations. It enables an employer to have full control of all employees working hours. It helps control labor costs by reducing over-payments, which are often caused by transcription error, interpretation error and intentional error. Manual processes are also eliminated as well as the staff needed to maintain them.

A time and attendance system protects a company from payroll fraud and provides both employer and employees with confidence in the accuracy of their wage payments all while improving productivity.

Automated time and attendance systems can use electronic tags, barcode badges or magnetic stripe cards in place of paper cards which employees touch or swipe to identify themselves and record their working hours as they enter or leave the work area.

Bio Touch Solutions recommends the following employee card-based time clocks:
  • ZK Model US10CR (RFID/proximity card reader)
  • ZK Model US10C-B (barcode card reader)
  • ZK Model US10C-Mag (magnetic stripe card reader)

US10CR   US10C-B   US10C-Mag

Basic features:

3 inch color TFT color display TCP/IP communication Contact relay to ring bell (or open door lock) Option for Wi-Fi communication

However when using badges/cards, often employee “time theft” (aka buddy punching) can occur when an employee uses an absent co-worker’s badge/card and fraudulently punches in for the absent employee. Buddy punching can cost employers thousands of dollars in unearned wages depending on how many employees they have on the payroll.

To eliminate buddy punching and save our clients money, Bio Touch Solutions recommends using biometric (fingerprint) employee time clocks instead of card-based clocks. Biometrics prevents employees from fraudulently punching in for each other and deriving fraudulent/unearned wages.

Bio Touch Solutions recommends the ZK Model US10C-ID employee time clock:

ZK Model US10C-ID (fingerprint + RFID/proximity card reader)

3 inch color TFT color display TCP/IP communication Contact relay to ring bell (or open door lock) Option for Wi-Fi communication Reads Fingerprints and/or RFID/proximity cards and/or PIN codes Fingerprint storage: 3,000 – 5,000 templates Fingerprint Matching speed: < 2 seconds

3. Drug Cabinets

Keys and pin numbers are no longer enough to ensure security and accountability for emergency drugs/narcotics access. Across the country, controlled substance inventory theft (aka “shrinkage”) is having a critical impact on patient care, staff integrity, liability, and profitability. This has led to regulatory demands for an access audit trail – Bio Touch Solutions offers unique, field-tested security technologies to meet those demands.

Today’s drug/narcotic cabinets can be easily compromised because most use a single PIN code for each paramedic/EMT (emergency medical technician). The problem is that a nearby unauthorized user can watch an authorized user enter the authorization code and thereby gain unauthorized access to the drug/narcotic cabinet.

However, Bio Touch Solutions’ drug/narcotics cabinets are secure because the cabinets require dual identification. Using either (fingerprint + PIN) or (RFID proximity card + PIN) allows entry to the cabinet. The drug/narcotics cabinets are also big enough to house the narcotics carried, yet small enough to mount easily into an ambulance or fire truck.

Bio Touch Solutions allow for individual accountability and automated record keeping for all drugs/narcotics removed from the cabinet.

Safeguarding employees & visitors from dangerous machinery (OSHA compliance).

As described previously, ZK model US700 fingerprint reader is used primarily in Access Control applications (i.e. doors, elevators, gates, etc).

However, US700 has also been adopted by Loss Prevention managers to protect the safety of employees (and visitors) attempting unauthorized operation of dangerous motorized equipment (i.e. forklifts, cardboard balers, trash compactors, etc);

US700 basic features:

Connects either directly to any lock/motor or any 3rd party Wiegand access control panel Reads Fingerprints and/or RFID/proximity cards and/or PIN codes Fingerprint storage: 1500 – 5,000 templates Fingerprint Matching speed: < 2 seconds

Workplace safety rules are intended to protect employees, but the use of manual keys, IDs, passwords, and codes frequently leads to unintentional violations of these rules. Recent OSHA investigations have found businesses in violation of rules prohibiting minors/non-certified employees from operating machinery, balers, compactors, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

Unauthorized/non certified users operating equipment falls within the TOP 10 OSHA violations. As a result, there are many injuries causing companies to incur large fines, comp claims, legal fees, and lost productivity.

Approximately over 3 million workers operate equipment and face the greatest risk when strict controls are not properly implemented. Biometric (fingerprint technology) compliance can prevent an estimated 120 fatalities and 50,000 injuries each year.

Bio Touch Solutions has a proven biometric application that eliminates the need for passcodes, cards, and shared keys. Our application exists at many retailers and manufactures across the country. This application is reliable and cost effective for any machine with a key, card, or passcode.

4. School-Crisis Lockdown Alert System

Bio Touch Solutions offers a patent pending solution for K-12 and Higher Education in response to school emergency situations.

The system provides REAL-TIME classroom status, updates and notifications to school administrators and first-responders through the use of graphical maps, e-mail and test messaging, all designed to assist in managing split-second decisions during emergency situations (i.e. intruders, natural catastrophes, fire, earthquakes, structural collapses, etc).

The system is secure, easy to install and operates as a stand-alone or integrated system. You simply ad it to your existing network. This scalable, flexible solution for crisis management provides real-time visibility when every second counts and protects what we value most, our children.

Here’s how it works:

Educators send color-coded alerts to administrators and first responders through networked devices. Law enforcement and first responders can view dynamic floor plans in real-time, with accurate updates automatically displayed on their mobile phone, tablet or patrol car laptop.

Features include email and text alerts to authorities and responders, two-way chat between classroom and responders and interface to paging and mass notification systems via AC-1700 outputs to trigger pre-programmed announcements and messages.

The system provides critical situational awareness benefits to First Responders with real-time status updates to aid in response and deployment. First Responders no longer walk blindly into harm’s way with the knowledge obtained from the system and provides for timely accurate decisions.

The system is accessible from anywhere, anytime using iPad, Droid, Smart Phone, Desktop, Laptop, or Smart Board over WAN, LAN, WIFI, and High-speed Cell (3G or 4G) Networks.

5. Loss Prevention for retail stores (i.e. shrinkage)

As described previously, ZK model US700 fingerprint reader is used primarily in Access Control applications (i.e. doors, elevators, gates, etc).

However, US700 has also been adopted by Loss Prevention managers to help reduce inventory shrinkage. Floor-employees in the past had unrestricted access to stockroom inventory when the manager’s key/card could be used. With biometrics, ONLY authorized employees are permitted in stockrooms.
